The Hollywood Reporter writes that Ken Jeong (Community) has signed on for Universal's Ride Along 2, starring Ice Cube and Kevin Hart.

The original creative team from Ride Along is back for the sequel as well, with Tim Story directing from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi. William Packer is also returning to produce.
Hart portrayed 'Ben Barber' in the original comedy, a security guard who wants to marry his girlfriend 'Angela' (Tika Sumpter). He has to contend with Angela's overprotective brother 'James' (Ice Cube), an Atlanta cop who gives Ben a chance to prove he's worthy of marrying his sister by taking him on a ride along.
In the sequel, Jeong will play "a cocky computer hacker who fancies himself a ladies man but who also is key in solving the case that Cube and Hart are working on".
Ride Along 2 is scheduled to hit theaters on January 15, 2016.
Ride Along was released January 17th, 2014 and starred Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, John Leguizamo, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter, Bryan Callen, Laurence Fishburne and Dragos Bucur.
Jeong's other upcoming projects include Norm of the North, The Penguins of Madagascar, Ktown Cowboys, The DUFF and Dr. Ken. Among his recent TV credits are Sullivan & Son, Bob's Burgers and Community, and he is well known for his comedic timing in The Hangover movies.
