It was an explosive night in Nashville, as the 2014 CMT Music Awards aired live on June 4 with an array of stars from across country, hip hop and Hollywood. The 13th annual awards experienced growth across all screens, up +10% from last year with 3.0 million Total Viewers,* to become the second most-watched telecast in franchise history. Last night's CMT Music Awards scored a 1.39 among P18-49 L+SD, up +7% from last year, and ranked as the #1 original cable telecast for the day. Across Prime, CMT was the #1 cable network among P18-49, F18-49 and Total Viewer L+SD impressions.
The telecast also performed particularly well among younger viewers and women, delivering an all-time high for W18-34 with an impressive 1.77 rating (up +19% over last year), while P18-34 earned a 1.39 rating (+14% over last year). Hosted for the third year in a row by the multi-talented Kristen Bell, the night featured memorable collaborations including a mashup with Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Jason Derulo and ZZ Top; along with Bell's opening performance of "Big Buckle, Moose Knuckle," this drove growth across CMT's digital screens. The 2014 CMT Music Awards was the #1 ranked program on Nielsen's Daily Top 5 ranking yesterday, generating more than 40 million Twitter impressions. CMT owned the conversation across Twitter and Facebook, tracking 66 nationally trending topics throughout the live show including #CMTawards and #MooseKnuckle.
