CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 Serves Up $35 Million at Weekend Box Office; RUSH Sputters with $10.3 Million

Sony Pictures Animation's CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2 scored some healthy portions at this weekend's box office with $9.1 million alone on Friday - taking in $35 million total as of today.

MEATBALLS 2 features a star-studded voice cast, including Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Will Forte, Kristen Schaal, Terry Crews, Andy Samberg, Neil Patrick Harris and Benjamin Bratt.

Ron Howard's RUSH from Imagine and Universal, sputtered after grossing $3.6 million on Friday, with a weekend total of $10.3 million, landing it at the third spot. Two-time Academy Award winner Howard teams once again with two-time Academy Award-nominated writer Peter Morgan on RUSH, a big-screen re-creation of the legendary '70s Formula 1 rivalry between James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl).

Searchlight's BAGGAGE CLAIM, with Paula Patton, Taye Diggers and Jill Scott, and Relativity's DON JON, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson, opened head-to-head this weekend with $3.2 million apiece on Friday. Both films took in a similar haul, with BAGGAGE in fourth with $9.3 million and DON JON in fifth with $9 million.
