CELEBRITY APPRENTICE'S Debbie Gibson Promotes 'Children International' Charity

What do reality television, cars and pop star drama have in common with poor children? In this case, quite a bit. The NBC reality television show THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE Mark Burnett Productions, General Motors and singer Debbie Gibson have joined forces to effectively change the lives of children living in crushing poverty in India through our organization, Children International. 

Ms. Gibson is competing on this season of THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE. Because of her selfless dedication to helping poor children, she has chosen to donate her winnings from the show to Children International. Using her savvy business acumen and fueled by her passion for advocating on behalf of poor children, she won as project manager on a recent episode where she had led her team in creating a live launch event for the new Buick Verano. While others might not be as gracious or generous, Ms. Gibson personally presented the organization with this life-changing check.

The gift of $50,000 - $20,000 from "The Celebrity Apprentice" and $30,000 from General Motors - will help improve the lives of 5,000 children living in the some of the world's poorest and most crowded slums of New Delhi. This contribution will be instrumental in helping to build a community center with a medical clinic where children will receive badly needed medical care. Children will be able to see a dentist - care that's unheard of for children from marginal areas. Children suffering from malnutrition will have nutritional meals and their mothers will learn how to stretch their meager incomes and cook healthier meals.

Those same children will now have a chance to attend school and change the course of their lives through education. A library will provide access to books and computers, and be a safe, healthy place for children to study, relax and interact - opening a world of opportunity that can only come through proper learning.
