CBS won Wednesday in viewers with time-period wins by SURVIVOR and CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, which also posted gains in adults 18-49 over its last first-run episode and opposite the highly promoted premiere of "Nashville," according to Nielsen preliminary live plus same day ratings for Oct. 10.

SURVIVOR: PHILIPPINES was first in households (6.0/10) and viewers (9.58m) and was second in both adults 25-54 (3.7/09, -0.1 behind FOX) and adults 18-49 (2.6/08).

At 9:00 PM, CRIMINAL MINDS (7.2/11, 11.35m) averaged 3.8/08 in adults 25-54 and 3.0/08 in adults 18-49.

At 10:00 PM, CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (7.0/11) and viewers (10.58m) and was second in both adults 25-54 (3.3/08) and adults 18-49 (2.6/07). CSI was up +4% in both households (from 6.7/11) and adults 18-49 (from 2.5/07) and +3% in adults 25-54 (from 3.2/08) compared to this year's season premiere (Sept. 26). CSI topped the highly promoted premiere of "Nashville" in viewers (vs. 8.98m, +18%) and beat ABC at 10:30 PM in adults 18-49 (2.6 vs. 2.5, +4%).

For the night, CBS was first in households (6.7/11) and viewers (10.50m).

Note: DVR penetration is at 46%, up from 42% last season. Last fall, Live+7 audiences for original entertainment series on CBS averaged more than a +1.4 million viewer gain over Live+ Same Day ratings, more than any other network. This season, we expect DVR usage to continue to expand, increasing DVR playback deliveries.
