FACE THE NATION delivered 3.04 million viewers and 0.6/04 in adults 25-54, the demographic most important to those who advertise in news. (Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 80.6% of the CBS affiliates.)

The May 28 broadcast opened with an update from Mosul from
CBS News foreign correspondent Charlie D'Agata. Next, Dickerson had an exclusive interview with Defense Secretary James Mattis. Dickerson then talked to Ken Burns, co-director of "The Vietnam War," a 10-part, 18-hour documentary film series that will air on
PBS in September 2017. The political round table featured Margaret Brennan,
CBS News White House and senior foreign affairs correspondent; Jeffrey Goldberg, editor in chief of The Atlantic;
USA Today's Susan Page; and Michael Morell, former acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency and
CBS News senior national security contributor. The show closed with an interview with Benjamin Wittes, senior fellow at Brookings and editor in chief of Lawfare.
