CBS's FACE THE NATION is #1 Sunday Morning Public Affairs Show in Viewers & Key Demo

CBS News' FACE THE NATION was the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program in viewers and adults 25-54 (tied with ABC), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for Sunday, Sept. 11.

FACE THE NATION delivered 3.07 million viewers and 0.6/03 in adults 25-54, the demographic most important to those who advertise in news. Compared to the same week last year, FACE THE NATION was up +2% in viewers (from 3.02m) and even in adults 25-54. Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 58.7% of the CBS affiliates.

FACE THE NATION is also the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program in viewers television year-to-date, according to Nielsen most current ratings. Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION delivered 3.66 million viewers (up +11%, from 3.30m) compared to last year.

On Sunday's broadcast, the show started with an interview with John Brennan, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. Dickerson then spoke with Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA), Chairman of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Next Dickerson and CBS News Elections Director Anthony Salvanto discussed a new CBS News battleground tracker poll from Ohio and Florida. CBS THIS MORNING co-host Gayle King previewed the new Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture. The national security panel on the 15th anniversary of the September 11 attacks featured Fran Townsend, former homeland security advisor to President George W. Bush and CBS News' senior national security analyst; Steven Brill, contributor to The Atlantic and author of Are We Any Safer?; and Jeffrey Goldberg from The Atlantic. The political roundtable featured Wall Street Journal and CBS News contributor Peggy Noonan; Slate and CBS News political analyst Jamelle Bouie; and Cook Political Report's Amy Walter.

Mary Hager is the executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning FACE THE NATION, one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television.
