CBS News' FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program in viewers television year-to-date, according to Nielsen most current ratings. Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION delivered 3.73 million viewers (up +10%, from 3.40m) compared with last year.

On June 19, 2016, FACE THE NATION posted double-digit year-to-year percentage growth in viewers and adults 25-54, the demographic most important to those who advertise in news, compared with the same week last year, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.19 million viewers (up +13%, from 2.81m last year) and 0.7/04 in adults 25-54 (up +17%, from 0.6/03). Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 78.31% of the CBS affiliates.

On the June 19, 2016, broadcast, John Dickerson interviewed Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. Dickerson then sat down with U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch to learn the latest on the investigation into the Orlando shooting. Dickerson then heard from both sides of the gun control debate, speaking first with Wayne LaPierre, National Rifle Association Executive VP and CEO, and later with Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA). Dickerson also discussed the Orlando shooting with terrorism and homeland security experts Michael Morell, Former Deputy CIA Director & CBS News Senior Security Contributor, and Fran Townsend, Former Homeland Security Advisor to President George W. Bush. The political roundtable featured The Washington Post's Ruth Marcus and Michael Gerson.
