CBS News' FACE THE NATION posted its best July Sweep delivery in viewers in at least 22 years, which marked the start of the CBS electronic sweep records. In the July 2016 sweep, FACE THE NATION delivered 3.29 million viewers and 0.7/04 in adults 25-54, the demographic most important to those who advertise in news. FACE THE NATION delivered 3.51 million viewers and 0.8/04 in adults 25-54 according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for July 31. Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 78.31% of the CBS affiliates.
FACE THE NATION posted double-digit percentage growth in viewers (up +22%, from 2.69m) and adults 25-54 (up +40%, from 0.5/03), compared to the July 2015 sweep.
FACE THE NATION is also the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program in viewers television year-to-date, according to Nielsen most current ratings. Television year-to-date,
FACE THE NATION delivered 3.68 million viewers (up +11%, from 3.32m compared to last year).
On the July 31 broadcast, the show started with an interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) following the Democratic National Convention. Next, Dickerson spoke with Donald J. Trump for President Campaign Manager Paul Manafort, followed by Chairman of the Republican National Committee Reince Priebus and then
CNN Senior Political Commentator David Axelrod. Later Dickerson received an update on the Zika virus from Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The political panel featured National Review Institute's Reihan Salam; Cook Political Report's Amy Walter; Bloomberg's John Heilemann; and the Washington Post's Dana Milbank.
