CBS News' 48 HOURS: "Secrets of the River" (R) was Saturday's #1 program in adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news, as well as viewers and households, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for June 8, 2013.
48 HOURS posted its best delivery in adults 25-54 ratings since Jan. 28, 2012, its best viewers delivery since May 5, 2012 and its best deliveries in households and adults 18-49 since April 13, 2013.
48 HOURS: "Secrets of the River" (10:00-11:00 PM) posted a 4.3/08 with 6.38m and a 1.9/06 with adults 25-54. Compared to the same night last year,
48 Hours was up +58% in adults 25-54, up +50% in adults 18-49 and up +26% in households.
"Secrets of the River" featured Peter Van Sant's report on the murder of Mackenzie Cowell, an aspiring model and beauty school student, who in February 2010
Disappeared and was found dead four days later alongside the Columbia River. An investigation by an unprecedented task force of FBI, state police and local authorities eventually led to Cowell's beauty school classmate, Chris Wilson. Wilson was charged with murder and hired high-profile attorney John Henry Browne, who is currently representing Sgt. Robert Bales through his guilty plea of murdering civilians in Afghanistan. Wilson agreed to a plea bargain, but a year later attempted to withdraw the plea, saying he didn't understand the consequences. Just hours before this broadcast, a judge rejected the request.
