CBS THIS MORNING was the only broadcast morning news program to post year-to-year gains in viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending August 5. For the second consecutive week, the broadcast also delivered CBS's closest competitive position to NBC in more than 22 years.
For the week ending August 5,
CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.36 million viewers (+5%, from 3.20m last year). In comparison
NBC was down -2% in viewers (3.95m from 4.04m).
ABC was down -6% in viewers (4.21m from 4.47m), -15% in adults 25-54, -12% in women 25-54 and -17% women 18-49.
CBS THIS MORNING is now less than 600,000 viewers away from NBC, the closest it has been in over 22 years (since the week ending December 31, 1993).
CBS THIS MORNING also cut the deficit with
ABC by 423,000 viewers to a margin of 852,000 viewers between the two.
Television year-to-date,
CBS THIS MORNING is the only network morning news broadcast to post gains in viewers and key women demos, while
ABC and
NBC posted declines, according to Nielsen most current ratings.
CBS THIS MORNING is up +8% in viewers (3.61m from 3.36m), + 13% in adults 25-54 (0.9/07 from 0.8/07) + 11% in women 25-54 (1.0/07 from 0.9/07), and +17% in women 18-49 (0.7/06 from 0.6/06), compared with last year.
Television year-to-date,
ABC is delivering declines in all measures: down -9% in viewers, -13% in adults 25-54, -14% in women 25-54 and -14% in women 18-49, compared with last year.
NBC is down: -3% in viewers, -5% in women 25-54 and -7% in women 18-49 compared with last year.
CBS THIS MORNING has delivered year-over-year audience growth for 46 consecutive months, while
ABC has not experienced year-over-year monthly gains since April 2014 and
NBC has not posted gains since May 2014.
