For the second consecutive week, CBS THIS MORNING delivered CBS's closest competitive position to ABC in 17 years, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending July 15. CBS THIS MORNING was also the only broadcast morning news program to post year-to-year gains in viewers.
For the week,
CBS THIS MORNING delivered 3.32 million viewers (+4%, from 3.21m last year) and was even with a year ago in adults 25-54 (0.8/07), women 25-54 (0.9/08) and women 18-49 (0.6/06). By comparison, for the week ending July 15,
NBC was down -1% in viewers, -11% in women 25-54 and -8% with women 18-49.
ABC was down -4% in viewers (4.2m from 4.39m), -8% in adults 25-54, -6% in women 25-54 and -9% with women 18-49.
CBS THIS MORNING cut the deficit with
ABC by 313,000 viewers to a margin of just 879,000 viewers between the two and by 174,000 to just 788,000 viewers between
CBS and NBC, compared to the same week a year ago.
Television year-to-date,
CBS THIS MORNING is the only network morning news broadcast to post gains in viewers and key women demos, while
ABC and
NBC post declines, according to Nielsen most current ratings.
CBS THIS MORNING is up +8% in viewers (3.64m from 3.37m), + 11% in women 25-54 (1.0/07 from 0.9/07), +17% in women 18-49 (0.7/06 from 0.6/06) and matched its adults 25-54 ratings (0.8/07), compared with last year.
Television year-to-date,
ABC is delivering declines in all measures: -9% in viewers, -13% in adults 25-54, down -14% in women 25-54 and -20% in women 18-49, compared with last year.
NBC is down: -3% in viewers, -5% in women 25-54 and -7% in women 18-49 compared with last year.
CBS THIS MORNING has delivered year-over-year audience growth for 45 consecutive months while
ABC has not experienced year-over-year monthly gains since April 2014, and
NBC has not posted gains since May 2014.
