CBS THIS MORNING delivered CBS its best competitive position in viewers to NBC in the morning news race in at least 29 years, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending March 17. The CBS News broadcast was also the only broadcast morning news program to post year-to-year gains in viewers and adults 25-54 for the week. ABC and NBC each posted declines in both categories.

CBS THIS MORNING was up +7% in viewers (3.61m from 3.37m) and up +13% in adults 25-54 (0.9/8 from 0.8/07) for the week when compared to the same week a year ago. At the same time, ABC was down -5% in viewers and -8% in adults 25-54, while NBC was off -8% in viewers and -7% in adults 25-54.

CBS THIS MORNING is also the only broadcast network morning news program up season-to-date in viewers. The broadcast is up +2% from this point last season (3.7m from 3.64m). ABC is down -7% and NBC is down -5% during the same time period.

CBS THIS MORNING launched Jan. 9, 2012, and each weekday morning, Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs. The broadcast has earned a prestigious Peabody Award, a Polk Award, three News & Documentary Emmys and two Daytime Emmys. The broadcast was also honored with an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award as part of the CBS News division-wide coverage of the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.

Ryan Kadro is the executive producer of CBS THIS MORNING and CBS THIS MORNING: SATURDAY.
