Today, CBS daytime talk show THE TALK announced the launch of "THE TALK Book Buzz" series. With special segments to air throughout season two, the show will focus on new, thought-provoking books that will have the hosts - and viewers - buzzing. With subjects ranging from surviving frenemies, and coping with financial infidelity, to surprising - even controversial - approaches to parenting, the selected books will provide food for thought and problem-solving advice.
The first book selected for the series is Iris Krasnow's The Secret Lives of Wives: Women Share What It Really Takes to Stay Married. The hosts will discuss this title with the author and some of the women featured in the book in a special segment to air on Friday, Nov. 11 (2:00 PM, ET / 1:00 PM, PT). For The Secret Lives of Wives, Krasnow interviewed more than 200 women whose marriages have lasted for 15 to 70 years and discovered that they all have taken bold - sometimes surprising - steps to maintain their marriages.
One month before the on-air discussion of the book, the hosts will announce "THE TALK Book Buzz" selection and encourage viewers to read it so they are prepared to join the conversation. Viewers will be directed to TheTalk.com where they can find an excerpt from the book, a reading guide and other web extras to enhance their reading experience. The hosts will ask viewers to weigh in, share their opinions and raise interesting questions via Twitter or Facebook for the upcoming discussion. During the show itself, the hosts will invite audience members to participate in the dialogue.
