The broadcast delivered 5.38 million viewers and a 1.0/07 in adults 25-54, the demographic that matters most to those who advertise in news. Compared to the same day last year, CBS SUNDAY MORNING was up +16% in viewers (from 4.62m) and even in adults 25-54.

Sunday's broadcast was anchored by Steve Hartman and featured Lee Cowan's cover story on challenges facing the nation's public defender system. Also on the broadcast, David Martin looked at the threat of a nuclear attack by North Korea and the potential U.S. response. Tracy Smith profiled actor and comedian Ray Romano. John Blackstone sat down with actor Jeremy Renner. Martha Teichner explored why the country has been captivated by the upcoming eclipse. Mark Phillips reported on how thatched roofs are making a comeback in England. Steve Hartman reported on a pianist/composer suffering from Alzheimer's who, with help, has been able to keep writing music. And Faith Salie weighed in with some thoughts on men and certain habits she finds annoying.
