CBS News led the field in the prestigious Edward R. Murrow awards, receiving a combined eight honors for its television and radio broadcasts - the most won by a news organization. The winners were announced today by the Radio, Television & Digital News Association, which will present the awards at a gala on October 6 in New York City.
The television Murrow awards for CBS News went to the CBS Evening News WITH SCOTT PELLEY, which won three, and to 60 MINUTES, the winner of two. The five awards were the most Murrows won in a year by a television network since 2009, and the most received by CBS News since 2003. CBS Radio News garnered three awards.
