Momentum in audience growth and key news demographics continued for CBS News' major news broadcasts into the second week of the new season, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 3.

CBS News original reporting led to year-to-year audience and demo growth for the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY, CBS THIS MORNING and CBS THIS MORNING SATURDAY, while 60 MINUTES and 48 HOURS each posted the best non-sports audiences on Sunday and Saturday respectively. Editor's Note: CBS SUNDAY MORNING WITH CHARLES OSGOOD and FACE THE NATION were preempted on Oct. 3 for sports coverage.

Last week's broadcasts featured extensive team coverage on the devastating storms in the south; ongoing reporting on the crisis in Syria, breaking news from the murder of 10 students at Umpqua Community College, an investigation into the murder of the wife of a well-known obstetrician, Patrick Kennedy's revelations of family secrets and an inside look at driverless cars.
