Variety reports that the Emmy-nominated talk show DR. PHIL will remain on the air through 2020. Host Phil McGraw has reportedly extended his deal with CBS Television Distribution for an additional three more years. McGraw's previous pact with CBS was set to expire in 2017.
Now in its 14th season, the
Syndicated show ranks as daytime TV's most-watched talk show, averaging 4.4 million viewers this season.
Commented Armando Nunez, president-CEO of
CBS Global Distribution Group, "Dr. Phil is the leading voice in daytime television and he's made his show an important platform to discuss issues our viewers are struggling with every day. He truly is one of a kind."
Added McGraw, "Extending this dynamic partnership with
CBS affords us a chance to continue our important work with individuals and families across America and around the world. Personally, I am so proud to continue with the best team in television. Most of my television family, from Carla Pennington the executive producer to the same seven cameramen I had when we started over 13 years ago, are still here making a difference everyday."
About DR. PHIL: DR. PHIL, the Emmy®-nominated hit syndicated, daily one-hour talk show hosted by America's most popular psychologist and lifestyle strategist,
DR. PHIL McGraw, begins its 14th season on September 14, 2015.
DR. PHIL became the #1 daytime talk show in its 10th season. For the previous nine seasons it ranked behind only the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and consistently ranks within the top 10 among all first-run
Syndicated strips.
Originally launched in the fall of 2002 to the highest ratings of any new
Syndicated show since the launch of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" 16 years prior,
DR. PHIL is enjoyed by millions of viewers across the nation. Additionally,
DR. PHIL is licensed to nearly 50 territories and countries worldwide.
Dr. McGraw's success stems from his signature "get real" approach to helping his guests solve their problems, stripping through their emotional clutter, helping them to get down to the bare bones of their issues and giving them the challenge they need to move ahead. Dr. McGraw champions those who suffer from such silent epidemics as domestic violence, child abuse, depression, racism, substance abuse and other health issues that are prevalent in society, but go largely undiscussed by their victims.
DR. PHIL is produced by Peteski Productions in association with
CBS Television Distribution, which also distributes the show. Carla Pennington and Dr. Phillip C. McGraw are the executive producers.
