The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up year-to-year in the key news demographics and posted the largest percentage gains in adults 25-54 and viewers among the network evening news broadcasts for the week ending Oct. 2, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +8% in adults 25-54 (1.4/06 from 1.3/06) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - compared to last year. The CBS broadcast posted its best delivery in adults 25-54 since the week ending March 14, 2015.

Additionally, the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +600,000 viewers (+9%, 7.23m from 6.63m) compared to last year. The CBS broadcast posted its best delivery in viewers since the week ending March 6, 2015.

Season-to-date, the CBS broadcast is up +6% in viewers (6.89m from 6.50m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.3/06) compared to last year.

Editor's Note: Ratings for the week ending Oct. 2 and the year-ago comparison represent a four-day average (Monday-Wednesday, Friday) as the broadcast aired under an amended title due to THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL.

On last week's broadcasts, a team of CBS News correspondents covered the shooting at Umpqua Community College; Eric Fisher, Lonnie Quinn, Kris Van Cleave and David Begnaud tracked Hurricane Joaquin; Holly Williams spoke to a Syrian rebel commander who explained why the U.S. training program failed; and the broadcast launched a new series called "Voices Against Violence," which features diverse voices with solutions to gun violence.

Steve Capus is the Executive Producer of the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY and Executive Editor of CBS News.
