The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is the only network evening news broadcast to post year-to-year growth in viewers and the key adults 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings week ending Oct. 9.
The
CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +8% year-to-year in adults 25-54 (1.3/06 from 1.2/05) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - and up +8% in viewers (6.71m from 6.22m) compared to the same week last year. The
CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +490,000 viewers compared to last year.
The
CBS broadcast closed the viewership gap with
NBC by 770,000 viewers and with
ABC by 740,000 viewers.
Season-to-date, the
CBS broadcast is up +7% in viewers (6.83m from 6.41m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.3/06) compared to last season.
On last week's broadcasts, David Begnaud covered the flooding in South Carolina, David Martin took viewers inside the nerve center of the air campaign against ISIS, Major Garrett and Julianna Goldman were on the presidential campaign trail, and John Dickerson and Nancy Cordes reported on Kevin McCarthy withdrawing his bid to become Speaker of House of Representatives.
