The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted double-digit year-to-year percentage growth in adults 25-54 (+13%, 1.8/06 from 1.6/06) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - and viewers (+10%, 8.47m from 7.73m) according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Jan. 22.
The
CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY scored its highest adults 25-54 rating in nearly two years (since February 2014) and posted its best viewer delivery in almost a year (since February 2015). The
CBS broadcast added +740,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. On Monday,
CBS tied
ABC in the key adults 25-54 demographic (1.9/06).
Season-to-date, the
CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the largest gain among the network evening news broadcasts in viewers (+4%, 7.55m from 7.25m) and maintained its rating in adults 25-54 (1.5/06) compared to last season.
On last week's broadcasts, Scott Pelley interviewed Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder about the Flint water crisis and the teacher walkout in Detroit public schools, with additional reporting from Adriana Diaz and Omar Villafranca; Lee Cowan previewed his interview with President Barack Obama for
CBS SUNDAY MORNING; Nancy Cordes and Major Garrett interviewed presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and John Kasich; a team of correspondents covered the winter storm headed for the Northeast; and Manuel Bojorquez reported on an oil industry crisis due to low prices.
