CBS EVENING NEWS Posts Year-to-Year Growth in Key Demo

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted year-to-year growth in key demographics for the week ending June 19, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up +8% in adults 25-54 (1.3/06 from 1.2/05) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - and up +13% in viewers (6.87m from 6.10m) compared to last year.

The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY added +770,000 viewers and closed the viewership gap with NBC by 1.24m viewers compared to last year.

Season-to-date, the CBS broadcast is up +3% in viewers (7.16m from 6.98m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.4/06) compared to last season.

On last week's broadcasts, Scott Pelley anchored live from South Carolina for coverage of the Charleston church shootings, with Jeff Pegues and Elaine Quijano also reporting from Charleston; Clarissa Ward was the only American broadcast correspondent in Yemen; Holly Williams reported on Syrian refugees who returned home after fleeing ISIS; Omar Villafranca covered the Texas floods; and Anna Werner was in upstate New York with the latest on the two escaped prisoners.
