The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted the largest year-to-year gain in viewers (6.55m from 6.38m, +170,000) among the network evening news broadcasts for the week ending Sept. 25, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.
The
CBS broadcast is up +3% in viewers compared to the same week last year.
On last week's broadcasts, a team of
CBS News correspondents provided extensive coverage of Pope Francis' historic trip to America, with Scott Pelley anchoring live from Washington, D.C. at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. Nancy Cordes covered House Speaker John Boehner's surprise resignation announcement, Jericka Duncan interviewed Kentucky clerk Kim Davis, and Kris Van Cleave reported on the Volkswagen emissions scandal.
