The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY delivered year-to-year growth in the key news demographics for the week ending Jan. 1, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up in viewers (+6%, 7.87m from 7.43m) and posted double-digit percentage gains in adults 25-54 (+13%, 1.7/06 from 1.5/05) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - compared to the same week last year.
This week marks CBS's best adult 25-54 rating since the week ending Feb. 20, 2015. Additionally, the
CBS broadcast gained +440,000 viewers compared to last year and closed the viewership gap with
NBC by 480,000 viewers.
Season-to-date, the
CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY is up in viewers (+5%, 7.39m from 7.04m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.4/06) compared to last season.
Editor's Note: Ratings for the week ending Jan. 1 represent a three-day average (Monday-Wednesday) due to the New Year's holiday. The year-ago comparison represents a two-day average (Monday-Tuesday).
