The CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY continues to add viewers season-to-date (+2%, 7.44m from 7.28m), according to Nielsen most current ratings. The CBS broadcast added +160,000 viewers compared to last season.
For the week ending Feb. 26, the
CBS EVENING NEWS WITH SCOTT PELLEY posted a 1.5/06 in adults 25-54 - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - with 7.67m viewers, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings. On Thursday,
CBS was first in adults 25-54 (1.7/07, tied with ABC) and beat
NBC (1.6/06) for the first time since August 2014.
On last week's broadcasts, Elizabeth Palmer provided rare reporting from inside Syria. Palmer reported from the outskirts of Homs and was one of the first Western reporters allowed access there since the Syrian army regained control. She found that both rebels and army soldiers complained of being exhausted from the fighting and the destruction. Also, John Dickerson, Nancy Cordes, Major Garrett, Bob Schieffer and Dean Reynolds covered
CAMPAIGN 2016 and Vinita Nair reported on exploding batteries that could pose a safety risk in products like e-cigarettes and hoverboards.
