CBS is developing a new series based on a James Patterson novel, according to Variety. The drama series will be based on Patterson's "Texas Ranger."
Jason Hall, TJ Brady and Rasheed Newson will executive produce the drama, titled "Ranger."
The series follows a Texas ranger and his "cantankerous" father, who move to South Florida. There, the titular ranger becomes a homicide detective and searches for his brother's killer.
CBS Television Studios is heading the project. Peter Lenkov and Sean Canino will executive produce the project with Patterson, Bill Robinson and Leopoldo Gout.
Patterson's novel was published in April of this year and made it to number one on the New York Times bestseller list.
