CBS Appoints Kurt Davis as VP of News Services

Kurt Davis is named Vice President, News Services for CBS News, it was announced today by CBS News Chairman and 60 Minutes Executive Producer Jeff Fager and David Rhodes, President of CBS News.

In his new role, Davis will lead CBS News' satellite newsgathering organization, which provides news and information to 200 CBS affiliates as well as to broadcasters around the world. The appointment is effective immediately, and he will be based in New York.

A seasoned journalist and news executive, Davis joins CBS News after 10 years as Executive News Director at CBS affiliate KENS-TV in San Antonio, Texas, where he oversaw all editorial content, while also setting short- and long-term strategies for the unit.

Davis spent his career in key news positions in a variety of markets around the country. Before KENS-TV, Davis spent four years as manager of coverage and content at WSB-TV in Atlanta, and served six years as news director at WDSU-TV in New Orleans.

Previously, Davis was managing editor at KDFW-TV in Dallas; news director at WSET-TV in Lynchburg, Va.; assistant news director at KATV-TV in Little Rock, Ark.; and was a weekend producer and senior producer at WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge, La.

Davis graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor's of Arts and Sciences in Journalism from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
