CARRIE Now Set for Halloween; Remake Release Moved from March to October

With reasons unknown, Sony Pictures has annonced that they have pushed the theatrical release date for CARRIE from March 15 to October 18 - a jump of seven months.

Just in time for the High School horror classic to reign on Halloween.

CARRIE, follows a sheltered High School girl who unleashes her newly developed telekinetic powers after she is pushed too far by her peers.

The modern adaptation of Stephen King's original novel, directed by Kimberly Peirce, features Chloe Grace Moretz as the title character. The Screen Gems and MGM's remake also stars Julianne Moore as the iconic religious fanatic 'Margaret White.' Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa penned the script.

THE CALL, starring Halley Berry and Abigail Breslin will officially take the horror flick's original date, March 15, on Sony's theatrical release slate.

The original big-screen adaptation of the High School horror classic was released in 1976, and starred Sissy Spacek as Carrie, with Piper Laurie, and John Travolta. The film spawned the 2002 made-for-TV sequel, THE RAGE: CARRIE 2, and earned both Spacek and Laurie Academy Award nods.
