According to reports, Bryce Dallas Howard will be joining Emma Stone and Viola Davis in the cast of the upcoming film "The Help." The film is based on Kathryn Stockett's New York Times bestselling novel of the same name.
Howard is currently in negotiations to play the role of Hilly Holbrook, the leader of a group of upper-class women in 1960's Mississippi who treat their black maids terribly, and for this reason become the subjects of a scathing book.
Howard will play opposite of Emma Stone, who plays Eugenia "Skeeter" Phelan, the protagonist of the story. "Skeeter" is an aspiring writer who interviews the maids to see what their lives are like.
Viola Davis plays the maid Aibileen, who tells her story and tries to convince the others to do so as well.
"The Help" is written and directed by Tate Taylor and will being filming in Mississippi in July.
Bryce Dallas Howard is best recognized for her roles in M. Nigh Shyamalan's "The Village" and "Lady in the Water," as well as "Spider-Man 3," and "Terminator Salvation."
The actress will also star in the upcoming film "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" as the vampire Victori
A. Howard will be replacing Rachelle Lefevre.
During her schooling, Howard took part in the concept recording of the Broadway-bound musical A TALE OF TWO CITIES. She graduated with her BFA in Drama in 2003. Howard is also an alumna of the
Steppenwolf Theatre Company's prestigious School at Steppenwolf in Chicago, and of The Actors Center in New York City. During her time in New York, Howard was also a member of downtown theater company Theater Mitu, in residence at New York Theatre Workshop. She appeared on Broadway in the 2003 Roundabout revival of TARTUFFE.
