According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brooke Williams (at left) (Spartacus: Blood & Sand), Marcus Vanco (Unbroken) and Australian soap hottie Daniel MacPherson have signed on to MTV's upcoming fantasy series SHANARAm based on the book series by Terry Brooks.
The series will center on the Shannara family, "whose members can tap into ancient magic to help reshape the world's future." The first season will begin with the second book of the series titled,The Elfstones of Shannara. Production is already underway in New Zealand.
Williams take on the role of Catania, "a clever and wise Elf who serves as Amberle's (Poppy Drayton) best friend and handmaiden." Vanco is set to play Bandon, "whose family is afraid of him on account of his mysterious visions. He is found by Wil (Austin Butler, The Carrie Diaries) and Amberle, chained to a wall and starving. Wil believes Bandon will be key to saving the Four Lands."MacPherson will portray Arion, heir to the Elvin throne. The site describes him as "overly serious, Arion is the polar opposite of wild brother Ander (Aaron Jakubenko). He dedicates himself to proving to his father, King Eventine (John Rhys-Davies), that he is worthy of the crown, but his plans are complicated when his niece Amberle goes missing."
As previously announced, the cast will also feature Ivana Baquero (Pan's Labrynth) as Eretria and ARROW star Manu Bennett as the druid Allanon.
The network has given the greenlight to 10-episodes of the series.
Brooks SHANARA series is reported to be the highest-selling unadapted fantasy series in the world. The author now becomes the second-highest-selling fantasy author behind Harry Potter scribe J.K. Rowling.
