Broadway's Gabrielle Ruiz made the venture from stage to screen last season on The CW's CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND - today, TVLine reports that the IF/THEN and IN THE HEIGHTS alum is sticking around the musical comedy.

Ruiz, who plays Valencia, has just been upped to a series regular for the the show's second season, ensuring she and Rachel Bloom will continue their on-screen feud - though a reconciliation for the pair's characters could always be in the cards.

Ruiz told the site: "In the middle of shooting our first season, Rachel [Bloom] once told me on set that she was a little sad Rebecca's and Valencia's friendship was so short-lived. I could not agree more. I hope Rebecca and Valencia get another chance to make things work between them. I mean, they're both now ex-girlfriends! Crazy or not, at least they now have something in common."

CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND returns to The CW this fall.

About CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND:

You know how you're walking down the street in New York after fleeing your office to avoid a dreaded promotion for a job you don't want and you're in a panic and you tried to take a nice calming sedative but you accidentally throw your pills all over the ground and suddenly you see your old summer camp boyfriend Josh Chan (Vincent Rodriguez III), the one you haven't seen in ten years and then, BOOM, you decide to move to his hometown, where he still lives? And then you don't admit the truth of why you moved to anyone including yourself for about 9 or 10 months? CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND explores what happens to Rebecca Bunch when this EXACT thing happens to her. Oh, and while this is all happening, she and many of the people she meets burst into song on a regular basis. From CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND is also executive produced by Bloom, along with Aline Brosh McKenna ("The Devil Wears Prada"), Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer," "The Amazing Spider-Man" films) and Erin Ehrlich ("Awkward").
