The hilarious New York City-based webseries set in the world of television commercials and auditions, was created by, and stars, husband-and-wife team Michael Paul Smith and Gillian Pensavalle. THE RESIDUALS is inspired by their experiences as actors auditioning for commercials in The Big Apple. Season One episodes average about seven minutes, and give viewers an inside view at the bizarre world of auditions, callbacks, costume fittings, and commercial shoots.
Luke Kelly-Clyne of Splitsider calls the series "fantastic," praising it for being "subtly brilliant" and "irresistibly shareable;" while BroadwayWorld's Matt Tamanini says, "THE RESIDUALS' has an unmistakable charm all its own."
Smith stars as aspiring actor Pete Hamilton, with Pensavalle cast as a softhearted casting associate named Valerie. Media guru Paul Levinson says, "The acting is outstanding," with the cast displaying "impressive comedic talent."
The principal cast also includes Nick Costa as Pete's character-actor roommate, Kelly Warne as a high-strung actress who is self-conscious about her age, Mark Gessner as a powerful casting director with ANGER MANAGEMENT issues, and James Tabeek as his loyal-to-a-fault assistant.
