The New York Times writes that stage and screen actress Sheila Guyse passed away on December 28, 2013 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 88.

Guyse appeared in a series of all-black films, including Boy! What a Girl!, Sepia Cinderella, Miracle in Harlem, Harlem Follies of 1949 and the TV movie The Green Pastures, all between the late 1940s and '50s.
On Broadway, Guyse graced the stage in 1945's Memphis Bound!, followed by Finian's Rainbow in 1947 and Lost in the Stars in 1949.
Her sole album, This Is Sheila, was released in 1958 by MGM Records and featured a collection of standards.
Guyse disappeared from show business by the late 1950s due to health problems and her religious conversion as a Jehovah's Witness after marrying her third husband, Joseph Jackson.
