Broadway's Spencer Liff is set to debut as a new Broadway choreographer on Fox Tv's So You Think You Can Dance in tonight's episode, November 17. Liff will be choreographing a piece for contestants Karen Hauer and Kevin Hunte, who found themselves in the bottom three last week. The episode airs at 8:00pm EST on Fox.
Liff has appeared on Broadway in Equus starring Daniel Radcliff (Horse, Nugget u/s, Dance Captain), Cry Baby (recipient 2008 Astaire Award - Best Male Dancer), The Wedding Singer (Groom), and Big. He has toured nationally with The Will Rogers Follies (Freddy, 1st national), and Oliver! On screen he has appeared in Across the Universe (Daniel), Hairspray (Mikey). His television credits include "Haute and Bothered" (Teen.com), "Gypsy" (CBS).
So You Think You Can Dance is the Fox dance competition and reality show that features contestants proficient in all styles of dance (from street to salsa) in competition with one another. The series first premiered on July 20, 2005 and has a similar premise to the American Idol series of singing competitions, with nationwide auditions leading to the discovery of the next big star. The show was created by Idol's Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe and is produced by 19 Entertainment and Dick Clark Productions.
So You Think You Can Dance was the #1 rated show in summer 2006 for adults aged 18-49 and has inspired versions of the show in New Zealand, Ukraine, Turkey, Israel, Canada, Germany, Greece, Poland, Malaysia, Norway, Belgium, The Netherlands, South Africa and Australia, with several other versions in the works. In its five seasons, the show has won four Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography and a total of six emmys.
