"NBC Nightly News" anchor and managing editor BrIan Williams will report live from the Louisiana Gulf Coast Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. This trip comes five weeks after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico first began and a week after BP's attempt to stop the flow of oil with a "top kill." Williams was the first anchor on the ground in the region after the story broke. This is his 15th trip to the region since Hurricane Katrina.
NBC News Chief Environmental Affairs Correspondent Anne Thompson, NBC News Chief Medical Editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman, and other NBC News correspondents will join Williams, providing the broadcast with special reports from the region.
In addition to reporting for "NBC Nightly News," reports from Louisiana will air on "Today," MSNBC, and msnbc.com. Also on www.msnbc.com, Williams and the producers traveling with him will blog on The Daily Nightly throughout the trip.
Bob Epstein is the executive producer of "NBC Nightly News with BrIan Williams." Aurelia Grayson is the senior broadcast producer. For more news and information about "Nightly News," go to www.nightly.msnbc.com.
