Brent Spiner is exiting the CW's SUPERGIRL due to scheduling issues, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Spiner had booked a recurring role in season four of the serise, playing the key role of Vice President Baker, but now he will depart the series in order to attend to a family matter that conflicts with the production dates.
Bruce Boxleitner has been tapped to take over as Baker, who is described as adept and politically minded, an unlikely leader who steps up in a big way up when his country needs him most.
Boxleitner is the newest cast member announced for season four. Previously announced was transgender activist Nicole Maines, who is making history by playing TV's first trans superhero in the series regular role of Nia Nal aka Dreamer. Other new faces include: Sam Witwer, playing Agent Liberty; April Parker Jones, playing Col. Haley; David Ajala, taking on the recurring role of Manchester Black; Rhona Mitra, who will play Mercy Graves; and Robert Baker, who will play Otis Graves.
Season four of SUPERGIRL premieres on Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
