On the heels of its fifth-consecutive record breaking year in 2010, Bravo has greenlit four all new stand-up comedy specials with two-time Emmy winner Kathy Griffin. To keep the pop culture gossip and celebrity encounters fresh, a new one-hour special will air quarterly in 2011.
"I went to Bravo and told them I thought I was being a little too nice in my stand up specials. They agreed... and gave me four more. Let the fur fly," said Kathy Griffin.
"We are continuing to expand to new formats and genres and there is no better way to start off 2011 than giving Kathy Griffin an unprecedented four new stand-up comedy specials on Bravo in one year," said Andy Cohen, Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Development for Bravo. "Kathy's quick fire humor and ability to tap into pop culture make for must watch television."
Griffin's Emmy nominated comedy routines have spotlighted her controversial and blunt humor as she takes aim at everyone from Paris Hilton to Barbara Walters. Since 2005, Kathy has performed eight original comedy specials for Bravo including "Kathy Griffin..Is Not Nicole Kidman," "Kathy Griffin: Strong Black Woman," "Kathy Griffin: Everybody Can Suck It," "Kathy Griffin: Straight To Hell," "Kathy Griffin: She'll Cut a Bitch," "Kathy Griffin: Balls of Steal," "Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt" and most recently "Kathy Griffin: Whores on Crutches."
Bravo's two-time Emmy winning reality series, "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List," aired its sixth season last summer. The series is currently nominated for a Producer's Guild Award, making it an impressive six years in a row and is also nominated for a People's Choice Award this year in the "TV's Guiltiest Pleasure" category.
