Brandon T. Jackson to Star in BEVERLY HILLS COP TV Remake

Deadline reports that Brandon T. Jackson has been cast in the lead role of the upcoming Sony-TV reboot of Eddie Murphy's Beverly Hills COP. The project will be executive produced by Murphy and Shawn Ryan and has already secured a pilot production commitmenT. Ryan will pen the script. 

The project is said to be a sequel to the trilogy of films that featured sharp talking detective Axel Foley (Murphy) in his escapades througout Los Angeles. The series will follow "Axel’s blue-collar police officer son, Aaron (Jackson), who helps take down the criminal elements of the rich and famous in Beverly Hills while trying to escape the shadow of his larger-than-life father." Murphy is expected to return in his role of Axel in the pilot. If the pilot is picked up to series, the comedian will consider making repeat appearances.  

Actor/comedian Brandon T. Jackson was seen on TV opposite Minnie Driver in the 2011 pilot Hail Mary. He is best known for his role in the movie Tropic Thunder opposite Ben Stiller.
