According to Variety, Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper have signed on for the suspense thriller 'The Dark Fields', set to begin production in May. The plot revolves around down-and-out Gotham writer, played by Cooper, who comes into possession of a designer drug that gives him newfound success. De Niro plays a financial mogul who pursues Cooper's character.
In March 2006, Cooper starred in Three Days of Rain on Broadway with Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd at the Bernard B Jacobs Theater. He also costarred in The Williamstown Theatre Festival's The Understudy. Robert De Niro began his career in theatre as a student of the Stella Adler Conservatory as well as Lee Strasberg's Actor's Studio. He starred on Broadway in 1986 in Cuba & His Teddy Bear, and received a Theatre World Award for his performance.
Based on a novel by Alan Glynn, the film's screenplay was written by Lesie Dixon. 'The Dark Fields' will be directed by Neil Burger and produced by Scott Kroopf, Leslie Dixon and Ryan Kavanaugh. The movie will be distibuted by Universal.
