As Variety reported earlier this evening, David Fincher is allegedly courting Brad Pitt to star in his planned remake of 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA for Disney.

Though the project has not yet received the officiAl Greenlight, Fincher, following THE SOCIAL NETWORK and THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, has received a period of three months to attempt to get the project in a produceable place by Disney. In order to do so, he has turned to casting, and is in early conversations with Pitt to take on the role of Ned Land.

Should Disney give Fincher the go-ahead, and Pitt officially sign a deal, it would be the fourth film the pair have worked together on. Pitt has previously been seen in Fincher's SEVEN, FIGHT CLUB, and THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON.

It was reported last that Fincher had enlisted Andrew Kevin Walker (SEVEN) to do a bit of rewriting on Scott Z. Bruns' initial script - a script that dictates approximately 70% of the film would be composed of special effects.

BroadwayWorld will keep you updated as Pitt's talks progress, and Fincher's potential remake of 20,000 LEAGUES surfaces.
