Box-Office Roundup: CRAZY RICH ASIANS Brings in $28 Million Labor Day Weekend; MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT Tops Overseas

Box-Office Roundup: CRAZY RICH ASIANS Brings in $28 Million Labor Day Weekend; MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT Tops Overseas  Image

Crazy Rich Asians won the Labor Day weekend box-office, taking in $28 million over the holiday weekend, the best gross for the weekend in over a decade and the third best ever. This weekend total also took the film past the $100 million mark.

The Meg took the number two spot with $13.4 million over the four day weekend domestically and $17.7 million internationally.

Mission: Impossible - Fallout won the international box-office with $89.1 million, including $77.3 million from China.

Operation Finale opened over the Labor Day weekend earning $7.8 million for the four days.

Also opening over the holiday was the the new thriller Searching, which expanded nationwide into 1,207 theaters after opening in select cinemas last weekend to strong numbers: $7.7 million for the four days.

Lionsgate's new sci-fi action pic Kin only brought in $3.7 million for the long weekend from 2,141 theaters.

The Spanish-language film Ya Veremos, the year's top-grossing movie in Mexico to date opened in the U.S. to $2.3 million over the long weekend.
