A Boston theatre has announced the cancellation of two of Bill Cosby's comedy performances scheduled for today, Feb. 8.
The Wilbur Theater's cancellation stems from protests against the comedian by women's groups in light of recent sexual assault allegations against Cosby.
Cosby issued a statement to his fans yesterday saying,
"Dear Fans: GOD has Blessed me with a wonderful gift to share with all of you. For 53 years I have continued to master this gift, which heals the soul and warms hearts. Laughter! I thank you, the theatre staff (Wilbur Theatre), the event organizers and the Boston Community for your continued support and coming to experience family, fun entertainment. Hey, Hey, Hey - I'm Far From Finished."
Multiple other engagements have been canceled, but upcoming shows in Bakersfield, Pittsburgh, and Charlotte have yet to announce cancelations.
Allegations against Cosby for sexual misconduct were first revealed by comedian HANNIBAL Buress, who called the 'Cosby Show' star a rapist during a routine. Since that time several other women have come forward to reveal that they too were victims of Mr. Cosby, including former model Janice Dickinson, who shared with ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT that she was drugged and raped by Cosby more than 30 years ago.
In recent weeks, scheduled appearances on CBS's Late Show and THE QUEEN LATIFAH SHOW have been canceled. In addition, NBC has cancelled Cosby's upcoming family comedy.
