Deadline.com announced that Tony and Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner has signed on to ABC's 'Gilded Lilys' pilot. Also cast in the drama are Sarah Bolger and Madeline Zima. The pilot is written and executive produced by KJ Steinberg and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, and directed by Brian Kirk.

'Gilded Lilys' is set in New York City in 1895 and is "an epic love story that follows the opening of the first luxury hotel in the city and the intermingling of love, treachery and disdain between the classes."

Danner is set to play Caroline Lily, the grandmother of Violet Lily (played by Bolger). Her character is described as "the family’s wickedly funny matriarch widow."

Danner has won two Emmy awards, received a Golden Globe® nomination and accepted a Tony award for her Broadway debut in "Butterflies Are Free." Her film roles include "Alice," "The Great Santini" and "Meet the Parents."
