More commonly known for creating the Big Gay Italian Franchise which began with "My Big Gay Italian Wedding" Off-Broadway back in 2003, Wilkinson actually began his career as a Production Associate and then Associate Director at the long running Daytime Drama "One Life to Live." During his fifteen years working behind the scenes he earned one Daytime Emmy for being part of the Editing Team back in 2007 and two more for being part of the Directing Team in 2008 and 2009. Wilkinson left the soaps in 2009 when "My Big Gay Italian Wedding" began running on an Equity contract doing five performances a week at St. Luke's Theater.

Long time friends from the soaps and past Directors of his shows Off-Broadway, Sonia Blangiardo and Teresa Anne Cicala cast Wilkinson as "Anthony Digiacomo" in the new hit series "Tainted Dreams," now streaming its first full season on Amazon. "I had no idea what I was in for!" Said Wilkinson. "It was one thing to work behind the scenes with soap actors but a completely different world to act with them." Wilkinson's performance this season landed him an Emmy Nomination for "Best Supporting Actor in Digital Drama Series," and Tainted Dreams received a total of five nominations including best show.

"My Big Gay Italian Midlife Crisis" which just celebrated its last performance Saturday Evening at the Theater Center after an eighteen month run, was the last chapter of the trilogy. "I may have more surprises up my sleeve, I'm just getting started!" said Wilkinson. "Now it's time to focus on bringing all three chapters to Atlantic City this summer." All three parts of the Big Gay Italian Trilogy (My Big Gay Italian Wedding, My Big Gay Italian Funeral and My Big Gay Italian Midlife Crisis) are scheduled to play this summer in the Superstar Theater at Resorts Hotel & Casino. Aside from New York City and now Atlantic City, the three shows have all been published and already played in multiple cities in the US as well as Edinburgh, London, Vancouver, Hong Kong and parts of France. The shows are all available thru Samuel French and continue to be licensed out.

The Daytime Emmy's are being held in Los Angeles on Friday, April 28th, 2017.
