Berlin-Based Psychedelic Pop Craftswoman and Experimental Vocalist Mary Ocher Announces North American Tour Image

The Klangbad collective is very pleased to announce that Mary Ocher will be performing across the U.S. and Canada this year. Touring in support of her new release The West Against The People (Klangbad) and its follow up 10" Faust Studio Sessions and Other Recordings(Klangbad/Sing A Song Fighter - a special cassette edition released by Related Records will be available on tour), the run of dates begins March 7th at the Victoria Event Centre in Victoria, B.C., Canada. More dates will be announced soon!

Produced with Hans Joachim Irmler (of Faust), The West Against The Peoplefeatures Ocher's two drummers - known as Your Government - and appearances by avant-garde legends Die Tödliche Doris and Felix Kubin. Faust Studio Sessions and Other Recordings features additional collaborations with Julia Kent (of Rasputina / Anthony and The Johnsons) and German experimental artist Hans Unstern.

Mentored by Canadian psych-guru King Kahn, Ocher creates UNCOMPROMISING work; raw, thought provoking art dealing with subjects of authority, identity and conflict. A document on social indignation and the deconstruction of our identities as citizens, The West Against The People includes an essay elaborating on the themes of the album and analyzing the current sociopolitical climate.

Pulling inspiration from the ether as she navigates the world, in the process of writing The West Against The People Ocher spent months collecting notes on everything from abstract descriptions of sounds she might want to feature (some of the ideas for "sounds" were made with the mouth, or body parts), ideas for lyrics, vocal melodies, and more. Assembled into a dizzying collage and brought to life through Ocher's unique vision, the sonic tiles come together in a MOSAIC that challenges the listen to free themselves from preconception.

"Mary Ocher gives me the chills, she frightens me with her feral soul. I'm so happy she exists. Set me free Mary!" - Karen O, Yeah Yeah Yeahs
