According to The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict Cumberbatch has signed on to star in an upcoming biopic on Beatles manager Brian Epstein. Sherlock director Paul McGuigan has also signed on for the project, and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will produce under Playtone.
The film is described as the story of “the man who threw the biggest party of the 1960s but ultimately forgot to invite himself.”

In 2010, Cumberbatch starred in the title role on Sherlock for BBC TV. He also starred in Steven Spielberg's War Horse film adaptation and last year alternated leads in Danny Boyle's production of FRANKENSTEIN. His other theater credits include 'Hedda Gabler', for which he received an Olivier Award nomination. Cumberbatch appeared in this year's Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.
