According to Deadline, Benedict Cumberbatch is to star in a Brexit drama for Channel 4 from Tessa Ross and Juliette Howell's House Productions.
Benedict Cumberbatch will star in Brexit, a political thriller written by playwright James Graham, best known for political plays such as The Vote, as well as recently Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? play Quiz.
Cumberbatch is set to star as Dominic Cummings, the leading strategist and Campaign Director of Vote Leave.
The one-off drama will unpacking the anatomy of the historic, high-stakes campaign to win the hearts and minds of the British people and will be directed by Black Mirror's Toby Haynes.
Currently starring in Patrick Melrose, Benedict Cumberbatch is known for his work in Sherlock, The Imitation Game, The Hobbit series, and for playing Dr. Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cumberbatch has received numerous awards and nominations for acting including three Laurence Olivier Awardnominations, winning Best Actor in a Play for Frankenstein. He has also received four Primetime Emmy Awardnominations, winning Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for Sherlock. His performance in The Imitation Game earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. In addition, he has received six BAFTAnominations, five Screen Actors Guild Award nominations and two Golden Globe Award nominations among others. In 2014, Time magazine included him in its annual Time 100 as one of the "Most Influential People in the World". He was appointed a CBE by Elizabeth II in June 2015 for his services to the performing arts and to charity.
