Deadline reports that Ben Foster will portray disgraced Tour de France bike champion Lance Armstrong in Stephen Frears upcoming biopic. The project is set to get underway on October 18th. The actor will join previoulsy announced cast mates Chris O'Dowd, who'll play journalist David Walsh, Guillaume Canet and Breaking Bad's Jesse Plemons.
John Hodge penned the screenplay which was adapted from sportswriter Walsh's book Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit Of Lance Armstrong. The film follows "Armstrong's rise through the 1990s and early 2000s, his battle with cancer and his dominance of pro cycling."
Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce along with Tracey Seaward and Kate Solomon. Working Title's Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger will executive produce.Ben Foster recently starred on Broadway in Orphans alongside Alec Baldwin and Tom Sturridge at New York's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre. His film credits include the upcoming "Ain't Them Body Saints" and "Kill Your Darlings," along with "The Messenger," "3:10 to Yuma," "360," "Contraband," "Here" and "The Mechanic."
