Actress Kristen Bell is in talks to star with Drew Barrymore in the upcoming film 'Whales,' contactmusic.com reports. The film is based on a true story of a reporter and a charity worker who worked together to free whales trapped in Arctic ice, while dealing with tension between Russia and the United States. Bell would play a journalist who relies on her looks to create a story.
The film is to be directed by Ken Kwapis and is based on the book 'Freeing the Whales: How the Media Created the World's Greatest Non-Event.' The film's producers include Tim Bevan, Liza Chasin and Eric Fellner from Working Title and Steve Golin and Michael Sugar from Anonymous Content.
Kristen Bell's stage credits include Broadway's THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER (Becky Thatcher) and THE CRUCIBLE (Susanna Walcott), as well as REEFER MADNESS (Mary) and A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC (Frederika Armfeldt). Her film and television credits include the title role in 'Veronica Mars,' 'Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical,' 'Heroes,' 'Gossip Girl,' and 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall.'
