Get ready Elvis fans; The King is coming back! No, no, no, not back from the grave - or in costume from Las Vegas. Rumors are a buzz that Baz Luhrmann is in talk to direct an Elvis biopic.
An article on Rollingstone, per The Wrap details that Warner Bros. has been "in talks with Luhrmann for several weeks now." No details on the script yet - except that it will not be sourced from other written works about Presley. Instead the screenplay will be completely organic from Saving Mr. Banks writer, Kelly Marcel.
Luhrmann wouldn't be a bad choice for director, as all his films are characterized (in many cases overdramatized) by heavy sections of music. Warner Bros. also acquired Elvis' musical anthology which will make access and fees to his popular hits much more reasonable.
All decisions being made now are very preliminary. Luhrmann himself is working on a plethora of other projects at the present time, so don't get too excited yet.
